Review for Mobile Fighter G Gundam

Okay so this is an insanely old anime that aired during 1994, but I remember watching it when I was a little kid and when I rediscovered the anime I just HAD to watch it. So for all those gundam fans out there, here's a quick overview of this anime and of course, some commentary to go with it :)

Plot Overview:
The time frame the anime takes place in is the future, where there are floating space colonies that represent each country, and Earth is left in ruins. The few people that do inhabit Earth find it increasingly hard to live, mainly because of the event called the Gundam Fights, which occurs every four years. The fights were designed so that each colony didn't have to fight large wars with each other, and what happens is each country chooses their top fighter and sends them to participate in the fight. Whoever defeats all of the other countries' gundams and is the last one standing earns their nation the ability to rule all of space for the next four years. The main character is a young martial artist named Domon Kasshu, who is the fighter of Neo-Japan. He wants to win the Gundam Fights for a variety of reasons; to free his father from his cryogenic state (he was frozen because he was wrongly accused for committing treason) and to track down his brother who has escaped with the Dark Gundam and plans to use it to take over all of space. (There's a really interesting twist at the end, but you've got to watch it to find out ;D)

Gundam Fight Articles:
(Basically the rules for the Gundam Fights)

-Article 1
A unit whose head section has been destroyed is disqualified. Supplement: Accidental harm inflicted on a Gundam Fighter during a match is acceptable.
-Article 2
A Gundam Fighter must never aim at the cockpit of an opponent's Gundam.
-Article 3
A Gundam Fighter may repair damage to his Gundam as often as he/she needs, and continue to challenge as often as he/she desires to move on to the championship league, so long as the dream of winning remains with the fighter, and as long as the head section has not been destroyed.
-Article 4
A Gundam Fighter must take responsibility for protecting his/her own Gundam.
-Article 5
A match shall only be held on a one-on-one basis.
-Article 6
A Gundam Fighter shall not taint the honor and dignity of the nation he/she is representing.
-Article 7
The Earth is the ring! Supplement: Destruction of property on Earth due to the Gundam Fight is not considered a crime.

Main Characters:
Domon Kasshu: The main protagonist of the story, is very impulsive and hot headed. He has a very strong connection to all of his friends and relies heavily on them. His entire life is devoted to find his brother who had apparently committed treason against Neo-Japan and killed his mother, and saving his father from his cryogenic state.

Rain Mikamura: Childhood friend of Domon, and joins him in his journey of winning the Gundam Fights. She is a doctor and a mechanic, and conducts all the repairs on the Shinning Gundam and the Burning Gundam. (Both are Domon's gundams)

The Shuffle Alliance: Group of extremely experienced fighters; the previous shuffle alliance sacrificed their lives to save the current shuffle alliance, who were being controlled by the Dark Gundam. The current Shuffle Alliance consists of Chibodee Crocket, Argo Gulskii, Sai Saici, George de Sand, and Domon Kasshu.

Chibodee Crocket: The fighter for Neo-America, Domon's friend and partner in the Shuffle Alliance. He fights so that he can achieve his American dream.

Argo Gulskii: The fighter for Neo-Russia, Domon's friend and partner in the Shuffle Alliance. He fights so that he will be able to free his friends, who were put in jail.

Sai Saici: The fighter for Neo-China, Domon's friend and partner in the Shuffle Alliance. He fights so that he may be able to restore the Xiaolin Temple.

George de Sand: The fighter of Neo-France, Domon's friend and partner in the Shuffle Alliance. He fights to protect his pride and the pride of his nation.

Commentary!
Overall, I enjoyed this anime a lot. The beginning was really repetitive and slow, but as the storyline went on it got much more interesting. Of course, the art/graphics of the anime are horrible, but that's to be expected since its like...16 years old. On a scale of 1 to 5 (5 being the highest), I would rate this anime a 4 because I liked most of the storyline, but a lot of the parts were repetitive. If you've got some time to spare over this winter break, I would recommend checking it out! :D Thanks, drop a comment below!

Why Naruto and Bleach both SUCK.

Ok. First of all. If you don't know the animes Naruto and Bleach. Get out. And I mean it. Lolz.  Anyway, these are two of the most popular animes around.
If they're so popular, why would I flame them?  Let's see.

Bleach:
1. Bleach is great... until the first arc is done. Like episode 70.  Everything after that. Is just. Crap. It's so dull. Filler. Filler. Filler.  Reused background.  Boring plot. Etc. etc. etc.

2. Ichigo is too strong. I mean, WHAT THE HELL?!! Ichigo is the strongest shinigami in soul society... ok we get that when he kicks the $#!@ out of everything there, the first time he goes.  But then, AN EVEN stronger enemy appears, and Ichigo gets even STRONGER.  And all the other shinigami suddenly buff out too.... enemy defeated. Oh wait. Another enemy. ICHIGO'S STRONGER AGAIN. I mean wtf?? Here comes Hueco Mundo.  Oh jeez, Ichigo suddenly goes bad ass with his newly found Hollow power. It makes him. Stronger. AGAIN. but some how, the other shinigami can still match him.  And his enemies are almost always stronger in the beginning.  If the enemies were this strong in the first place, how come they couldn't just crush Soul Society and be done with it? HUH?

3. Another strength issue.... Hollows are easy to kill. up until they become Menos Grande and are huge ass mother******s. But guess what? They aren't that strong after all.  Ichigo becomes stronger and owns them easy, as well as any other shinigami out there.  But then. Just so the story can have more enemies, and filler characters, another type of hollow is created.  Adjuchas. And these guys are small again. What the heck? Oh wait. That's not the end, here comes the Arrancar.  Yay. The hollow removes it's mask and becomes super pro and the equal to shinigamis.  OH NOES. Arrancar aren't enough for the producers of Bleach though!  They have to make the Espada too!

4. The plot is so stretched out... flimsy... repetitive. BORING.

5. The "important characters" never die. No matter how bad their injuries are. Nor if their fricken stomach gets torn out, or they get a fricken hole blown into their bodies.  They always heal. Become stronger. and kick ass.

6. Ichigo is a emo and selfish bastard (a lot of the time).

7. The manga. Is overpacked with just fight scenes, one for each character pretty much.  It gets really dull. and wastes time/space.  But they have to be read just for the one sentence of plot they each contain, otherwise you get lost.

8. EVERYONE COMMENTS " OMG. Ichigo has A HUGE AMOUNT OF REIATSU."

9. The characters talk wayyyyyyyyyy too long before dieing, starting a fight, or DOING ANYTHING FOR THAT MATTER!!

10. No matter how strong the enemies are, the "good guys" always grow stronger and win.

Naruto:

1. It's great until Sasuke turns evil. The plot just dies from there....

2. SPeaking of the plot. The whole thing is made of 98% fillers. Which are ALL exactly the same, just in different places, with different excuses for the missions, and different characters that need to be saved from either a physical enemy or their own mind.

3. The strength issue is here too... Everyone just keeps on getting stronger and stronger and stronger. Hell. Naruto could just blow up the whole damn hidden village with one giant futon rasengan bomb or a hundred or a thousand of them.  Why doesn't he just do that to his enemies?

4. For character depth and development... the producers just send them through the "emo phase" for a few episodes or twenty.  Then they miraculously recover and realize their dreams, etc.  BUT NARUTO DOES IT LIKE TEN TIMES!!

5. They fight. Fight. and Fight. With massive destruction. But hardly anyone dies or gets severly injured.  EVERYONE'S IMMORTAL + INVINCIBLE!!!

6. Everyone are immature idiots who either become crybabies or corrupted and go Hitler for revenge.

There a THOUSANDS of reasons why both animes suck.  Can't think of the rest right now, but I'll add on.  Feel free to comment if you disagree, agree.

Got Free Time This Holiday? Here are some Must-Watch TV Series

If you looking for something to entertain yourself with over the upcoming Holidays/or just on a regular basis, here's a list of my personal favorite TV series. (All of these can be found on the internet, via Google/Anilinkz/Animefreak/Veoh/Youtube/or Megaupload)

Live Action

Chuck

Chuck is an action-comedy-drama television program from the United States created by Josh Schwartz and Chris Fedak. The series is about an "average computer-whiz-next-door" who receives an encoded e-mail from an old college friend now working in the CIA; the message embeds the only remaining copy of the world's greatest spy secrets into Chuck's brain.

THE EVƎNT

Near the end of World War II, an aircraft of undetermined origin crashed in the Brooks Range of northern Alaska. It carried passengers who appeared outwardly human, but were eventually determined to be of extra-terrestrial origin. Their DNA is slightly less than one percent different from humans, and they age at a much slower rate. Most of the survivors were captured by the U.S. government and held in a secret facility nearby run by intelligence agencies, since they have refused to disclose much about their origin. The remaining survivors, who only sustained minor injuries, were able to escape the crash scene and currently live among the population.
President Elias Martinez learns of the facility's existence shortly after his inauguration and decides, after meeting the leader of the detainees, to release them and disclose their existence to the world over the objections of the intelligence agencies. His plans are put on hold when an assassination attempt on him is foiled by means beyond human technology. The CIA realizes there are other aliens and secretly plans to find and kill them. Unknown to the agency, the agent chosen to head the effort is himself an alien. The aliens are divided internally on how to respond to this.
Caught in the middle of these events is Sean Walker, whose plans to propose to his girlfriend Leila on a Caribbean cruise are cut short when she mysteriously disappears from the ship. His investigation eventually leads him to uncover the assassination plot.

The Walking Dead

The series follows a small group of survivors traveling across the desolate United States in the aftermath of a zombie apocalypse as they search for a new home away from the shuffling hordes of the undead. Led by Rick Grimes, a former sheriff's deputy, the group's increasing desperation to survive pushes them to the brink of insanity. At every turn they are faced with unspeakable horrors, both from those who are dead, and from the scattered remains of a struggling human populace. The zombies may be unoriginal... but this is the first Zombie apocalypse centered TV series - and very well done at that. (Adapted from the comic "The Walking Dead.")

Anime

Code Geass

The series is set after Japan's conquest by the Holy Britannian Empire on August 10, 2010 a.t.b., with their powerful new robot weapons, the Knightmare Frames, stripping Japan and its citizens of all rights and freedoms and renaming the country Area 11. The titular Lelouch vi Britannia is an intellectual Britannian prince who was sent as hostage, along with his sister Nunnally, by his father, Emperor Charles zi Britannia, after his mother was murdered, and has vowed to destroy Britannia. He gains an ability through the mysterious power of the Geass, becoming the leader of the resistance movement to fulfill his two wishes: to seek revenge for his mother and to construct a world in which his beloved sister Nunnally can live happily. This is possibly the best anime ever made, definitely a must-watch~

Love Hina

Keitaro Urashima begins the story on a quest, desperate to fulfill a childhood promise he made to a young girl: that they would one day attend Tokyo University together and live happily ever after. Sadly, even if any girl since then would deign to talk to him, he can't remember his dream girl's name or what she looks like, let alone muster grades worthy of Tokyo U. Setting out to find himself, Keitaro aimlessly blunders into becoming manager of his family's hot springs inn, which has been transformed into a girls' dormitory for a number of nearby schools. Over the course of the series, he shares the building, a wide range of preposterous adventures, and a generous helping of innuendo with a memorable handful of young women. Love Hina is truly an amazing show, it's funny, dramatic, and very very addictive - another must-see/even more so than Code Geass (but just barely) :O Don't watch the dubbed version!!

Kuroshitsuji

For those who love very well drawn art - there's Kuroshitsuji (a.k.a. The Black Butler in English) The series follow Sebastian Michaelis, a demonic butler who is bound by a supernatural contract to serve Ciel Phantomhive, the twelve-year-old head of the Phantomhive noble family, and in return Sebastian will obtain Ciel's soul when Ciel has finished all of his tasks - including getting revenge upon the people that murdered his parents. Afterwards, Sebastian is then allowed to kill him and consume his soul. Sebastian is just pure epicness~

Highschool of the Dead

Highschool of the Dead is set in the present day, beginning as the world is struck by a deadly pandemic that turns humans into zombies, euphemistically referred to by the main characters as "them". The story follows Takashi Komuro, a Japanese student at Fujimi High School who survived the initial outbreak along with several of his classmates and the school nurse, and occasionally jumps to the perspective of other characters.
The plot is initially concerned with survival and escape from the titular high school and zombies, but as the series proceeds it introduces the additional threats of societal collapse, in the form of dangerous fellow survivors and the possible decay of the characters' own moral codes.
This is probably also the most perverted anime out there - aside from Hentai of course, but still very entertaining to watch.

Blood +

For those that love vampire related stuff - Under the care of her adoptive family, Saya Otonashi has been living the life of an anemic and amnesiac, but otherwise ordinary schoolgirl. Saya’s happy life is shattered when she is attacked by a chiropteran (vampire like monster lizard thing), learning that she is the only one who can defeat them.

Armed with her katana, Saya embarks on a journey with her family, allies, and her chevalier, Hagi, to rid the world of chiropteran and rediscover her identity. The course of the journey reveals the background history of the chiropterans and Saya's very deep past, which extends into the mid-19th century.
The series is initially set in modern (September 2005) Okinawa City(Koza), on Okinawa Island, near the US Kadena Air Base. In the course of the series, Saya visits locations across the world, fighting enemy chiropteran and searching for her origins.

Death Note

Light Yagami, a high school student who discovers a supernatural notebook, the "Death Note", dropped on Earth by a death god named Ryuk. Death Note centers around Light's attempt to create and rule a world cleansed of evil using the notebook and the efforts of a detective known as L, and subsequently his successors, Near and Mello, to stop him. The Death Note grants its user the ability to kill anyone whose name they know, by writing the name in the notebook while picturing their face.

Eden of the East

On November 22, 2010, ten missiles strike against uninhabited areas of Japan, claiming no victims. This apparent terrorist act is referred to as "Careless Monday" and disregarded by most people. The series begins three months later, with a young Japanese woman named Saki Morimi visiting Washington D.C. as part of her graduation trip. When she gets into trouble, a mysterious Japanese man, who introduces himself as Akira Takizawa, helps her through it. The man appears to have no memory and is completely naked, carrying only a gun and a cell phone charged with ¥8.2 billion in digital money. While they are coming back to Japan, they learn that a new missile has hit their country.
Akira discovers that his phone is part of a game and that he himself is one of the participants. The game consists of twelve individuals, dubbed Seleção (Portuguese: "selection"), who are given ¥10 billion to save Japan. The Seleção are able to use the phone operator, Juiz, to fulfill any kind of order for a price. However if the money is used up completely or for selfish purposes, the individual will be eliminated.

Fan Recommendations:

Dexter

Dexter Morgan (Michael C. Hall), a forensic bloodstain pattern analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department, who moonlights as a serial killer. Dexter structures his

killing around "The Code of Harry", a body of ethics
and procedures devised by his adoptive father Harry (who was a Miami cop) to make sure Dexter never gets caught and ensure that Dexter kills only other killers. Harry also trained Dexter in how to interact convincingly with other people despite being a psychopath, since the murder of his biological mother, Laura Moser, did in fact turn Dexter into a serial killer. As an adult, Dexter has largely escaped suspicion (with some exceptions) by being genial and generous and maintaining generally superficial relationships. However, his attachment to his sister Deb, his significant other Rita, his stepchildren and (later) his biological son have all complicated his duplicitous lifestyle while making him question his need to kill.
